T Star (Taiwan Star Telecom) and Taiwan Mobile have merged to form a new entity, which now serves over 10 million customers. Here are the key points about the merged network:

1. Merger Details:

   • The merger was completed after 23 months of preparatory work, involving the convergence of IT systems, network technologies, employee placements, user rights, customer service, and other departments.
   • Over 16,000 communication and coordination meetings were held, involving more than 240,000 staff from both companies.

2. Spectrum Integration:

   • The merged entity combines the 3.5GHz, 900MHz, and 2600MHz spectrum held by T Star with the 700MHz, 1800MHz, 2100MHz, 3.5GHz, and 28GHz spectrum held by Taiwan Mobile.
   • This integration allows for the use of 5G NR technology to provide maximum 5G bandwidth of 100MHz, significantly improving network coverage and speed.

3. Network Coverage:

   • T Star’s 3G, 4G, and 5G coverage map shows extensive coverage across Taiwan, including rural areas and mountains.
   • The network ensures 98% signal coverage, minimizing interruptions.

4. Customer Plans and Promotions:

   • The merged entity offers subsidized 4G and 5G plans for low- and middle-income users, senior citizens, and the handicapped at a price of 149 yuan.
   • Various promotional plans are available, including a 4G/5G monthly plan priced at NT$149 for specific demographics.

5. Environmental Sustainability:

   • The merger aims to reduce price competition and transition towards value-centric competition and environmental sustainability.
   • Taiwan Mobile has been committed to environmental sustainability initiatives since 2016 and plans to continue this focus post-merger.
