Check device compatibilityIsrael's mobile network is characterized by high mobile penetration and a significant number of service providers. The country's mobile network development began in the mid-1980s with the introduction of the first mobile phone company. Initially, market penetration was limited due to high costs, but it significantly increased by the 1990s, especially after the second mobile phone company started operations in 1994 using digital technology and low tariffs. A third cellular communications company began operating in the following year, further expanding the mobile network.
Today, the Israeli mobile network is supported by advanced technologies such as 5G, which was officially launched in September 2020. Several companies, including Partner, Hot Mobile, and Pelephone, were among the first to offer 5G services. Strategic partnerships have also been formed to jointly own 5G frequencies, enhancing the network's capabilities. The Ministry of Communications has prioritized improving the nation’s telecom infrastructure, aiming to achieve 92% of homes connected to fiber optic by the end of 2025.
