  • Launch: Three Ireland launched on July 26, 2005, as the Republic of Ireland's fourth mobile network operator, following Vodafone, O2, and Meteor (now Eir).
  • Prepaid Services: Initially, the service was post-paid only, but a pre-paid service called 3Pay was introduced on May 16, 2006. A pre-paid mobile broadband service, 3Pay Broadband, was launched on February 29, 2008.
  • Acquisition of O2: In June 2013, Hutchison Whampoa acquired Telefónica's Irish mobile operations, O2, for €780 million. The O2 brand was phased out and fully merged into Three Ireland by March 2015.
