One Macedonia was a mobile network operator in North Macedonia. It was under the ownership of Telekom Slovenija Group and covered 99.9% of the population and 98.17% of the territory with a quality signal. The network was launched in 2013 and ceased operations in 2015. During its operational period, One launched the first DVB-T service in Macedonia, known as BoomTV. In 2015, One merged with Vip to form one.Vip, with Telekom Austria holding a 55% equity interest and Telekom Slovenija holding a 45% equity interest. The agreement included options for Telekom Slovenija to exit within three years of the transaction's closing date. In November 2017, one.Vip was sold to Telekom Austria.
Frequency Bands
GSM
Name | Interface | Description |
---|---|---|
900 MHz (E-GSM) | GSM | One Macedonia uses the GSM 900 MHz (E-GSM) frequency band. This deployment was initiated in 1991, when mobile services based on GSM were first launched in Finland. |
1800 MHz (DCS) | GSM | One Macedonia uses the GSM 1800 MHz (DCS) frequency band. This band operates within the 1.8 GHz frequency range, specifically using the uplink frequencies from 1710–1785 MHz and the downlink frequencies from 1805–1880 MHz. It was introduced in 1991 as an extension of the GSM standard and is primarily used in Europe. The GSM 1800 MHz band offers reduced signal interference and greater channel availability compared to the more crowded 900 MHz and 1900 MHz bands used by GSM. It provides services such as voice communication, text messaging (SMS), and basic data communications. |
UMTS
Name | Interface | Description |
---|---|---|
B1 (2100 MHz) | UMTS | One Macedonia uses the UMTS B1 (2100 MHz) frequency band. This deployment was initiated in the early 2000s, marking the beginning of the country's telecommunications development. The introduction of new operators and the expansion of existing ones contributed to the growth of mobile phone lines, reaching around 2.2 million active lines by 2012. |
B2 (1900 MHz PCS) | UMTS | One Macedonia uses the UMTS B2 (1900 MHz PCS) frequency band. |
LTE
Name | Interface | Description |
---|---|---|
B3 (1800 MHz +) | LTE | One Macedonia uses LTE Band 3 (1800 MHz +). The deployment date of this frequency band is not specified in the provided information. |
B20 (800 MHz DD) | LTE | One Macedonia uses LTE B20 (800 MHz DD) for its LTE network deployments. This frequency band is particularly known for its wide area coverage and deep penetration, making it suitable for regional and rural environments, as well as in-building coverage. It supports carrier aggregation with other bands to enhance bandwidth and performance. The deployment of LTE B20 (800 MHz DD) by One Macedonia is part of the country's efforts to improve mobile network infrastructure, especially in urban areas where strong 4G coverage is available. |
