Econet Burundi, formerly known as Spacetel Burundi, is the largest mobile carrier operating in Burundi. It is a fully owned subsidiary of Econet Wireless Africa, which itself is a subsidiary of the global telecoms giant Econet. Econet Wireless Africa acquired Spacetel Burundi in October 2014 from Global Telecom Holding.

Econet Burundi offers a range of services including voice, messaging, and mobile data. The company has established itself as one of the leading mobile operators in Burundi due to its extensive network coverage and affordable pricing. It provides standard 2G GSM services over 900 and 1800 MHz, launched 3G UMTS services in July 2011, and switched to 4G LTE in March 2017, initially in the capital Bujumbura and gradually expanding across the nation.

As of 2021, Econet Leo, the brand under which Econet Burundi operates, had over 2.6 million subscribers and employed 242 full-time staff. The company contributes significantly to Burundi's economy, paying over 23.2 billion Burundian francs in taxes from October 2014 to June 2015. Econet Leo also supports various community initiatives, including providing solar panels to schools and hospitals in rural areas and supporting over 500 orphans in the country.

Econet Leo is part of the larger Econet Wireless group, which operates in multiple countries across Africa, Europe, and the East Asia Pacific Rim. The group is headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa, and is led by Strive Masiyiwa, the founder and president of the board of directors.
