Vanuatu's mobile network is primarily provided by two major operators: Vodafone (formerly TVL) and Digicel. These companies offer a range of mobile services, including mobile money solutions like MyCash and M-Vatu, which are designed to enhance financial inclusion.

The history of mobile network development in Vanuatu dates back to 2011 when mobile-based financial services (MFS) were first introduced. Despite this initial introduction, MFS did not gain significant traction until they were reintroduced in 2018-19. However, even with this reintroduction, the uptake of MFS remains low, with less than 1% of the population using these services, as reported by the Reserve Bank of Vanuatu.

The challenges facing the mobile network sector in Vanuatu include a lack of a specific regulatory framework for MFS, which creates uncertainty and hinders the sector's growth. Additionally, the limited availability and high cost of these services contribute to their low adoption rates.
