Telecom Services Kiribati Limited (TSKL) was a state-owned telecommunications company in Kiribati. It was sold by the Government of Kiribati to a new entity, Amalgamated Telecom Holdings Kiribati Limited (ATHKL), which is now the sole communications provider in the country. TSKL operated a mobile telephone network, initially using analog technology, but it was upgraded to GSM in 2005. The GSM network was later decommissioned in favor of UMTS (3G) and LTE (4G) services, which are now available in Tarawa and Kiritimati. TSKL also provided internet services through its ISP, Coconut Wireless, which utilized satellite uplink and wireless modem systems. Despite the challenges posed by Kiribati's remote location, TSKL aimed to provide services to all outer islands, although internet access was limited and expensive due to reliance on satellite connectivity.
