LIME Antigua and Barbuda launched the first 4G LTE network in the Eastern Caribbean in November 2014. This network, which was deployed by Ericsson, provides 100% coverage across Antigua and Barbuda and offers enhanced mobile data services with higher capacity. The 4G LTE network supports faster download speeds, enabling seamless streaming of music and videos, and is part of a broader upgrade under Project Marlin, a US$1.05 billion initiative to improve telecommunications infrastructure in the region.
The launch of this network was significant, positioning Antigua and Barbuda on par with global standards for mobile data. It also supported the Government’s objectives to improve access to the internet and online resources, particularly through the Human Entrepreneurship and Assistive Resource Technology (HEART) development program, which aims to enhance technology access and training for the disabled and vulnerable populations.
LIME’s 4G LTE services were designed to deliver a world-class mobile data and voice experience, with the goal of revolutionizing opportunities for both consumers and businesses in the region. The network allows for faster internet browsing, file downloads, and video streaming, making it a major upgrade from previous mobile data services.
