MobiCom Mongolia is the largest mobile phone operator in Mongolia, established as a joint Mongolian-Japanese venture on 18 March 1996. It was founded by Newcom Group, Sumitomo, and KDDI. As of June 2015, MobiCom holds over 33 percent of the mobile service market and has the widest network coverage in Mongolia, reaching 95 percent of the country.
MobiCom offers a range of services including cellular communications, international communications, Internet, satellite communications, and wireless local loop (WLL). The company introduced 3.5G networking in 2009 and supports UMTS 2100, HSDPA 2100, HSUPA 2100, and HSPA 2100 bands.
MobiCom has a robust presence in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city, and covers other major cities as well as provinces along major roads. It provides 4G/LTE coverage in Ulaanbaatar and has begun 5G network trials in 2021, although the full launch is still pending.
For tourists, MobiCom offers dependable 4G networks and reasonably priced SIM cards and eSIM plans. The company has over 2,200 dealers and 10,000 sales points across the country, ensuring widespread availability of its services.
MobiCom's prepaid services are exclusively sold through Newtel LLC, and the company provides 24/7 customer support through its 64 branch units located around Mongolia.
