Wallis and Futuna, an overseas collectivity of France, has a limited mobile network. The territory began mobile services in 2015, catering to about 15,000 inhabitants. Initially, there were no mobile subscriptions, but by 2018, the number of mobile subscriptions was zero, and by 2021, it had increased to 3,000 subscriptions. The mobile network is primarily used for mobile broadband, as it serves as the primary source of internet access. The territory has good mobile coverage in the capital cities and reasonable coverage across more remote atolls. An independent mobile phone network, Manuia, is being installed to improve local telecommunications infrastructure and contribute to the territory's development.
