The Falkland Islands have a well-developed mobile network, with significant advancements in recent years. The introduction of mobile phones in 2005 marked a significant milestone in the country's telecommunications history. This was followed by the launch of "Touch," a GSM 900 mobile service by Cable & Wireless in December 2005. Roaming became partially available in April 2007, depending on the provider.

In 2019, a £3 million upgrade programme was implemented to deploy 4G services on the islands. This upgrade aimed to enhance the mobile network infrastructure, providing faster and more reliable connectivity to residents and visitors alike.
